Send us a text

In this episode we are discussing Peter's challenge to take the high road in how we treat each other, especially other believers. Peter doesn't avoid the problems we face in relationships, he addresses them, and then gives us Godly wisdom for how we should respond. Join us as we discover how to "search for peace".

Questions:
Vs 8 - be united, care about what others are going through, love each other like family, don’t be hardhearted, stay humble

We all want to belong, to be valued, and to be loved. What values must our community have to make people feel wanted and safe? What should they experience? What shouldn’t they?

vs 9 - Peter says, don’t treat people the way they treat you. Don’t crush them with your words. Instead, do something to bless them.

This is life in God’s upside-down Kingdom. Treating people the way you want to be treated, not repaying them for the way they treated you.

What are some examples of how we can return a blessing for evil?

Vs 10-12 - Peter quotes Psalm 34:12-16

To sum it up, Peter says - take the high road in how you choose to treat people because God is watching.

Psalm 34:10 tells us that avoiding lies and speaking evil will cause us to live a happy life. How can speaking truth and kindness make a difference in your relationships and future?

vs 11 tells us to “search for peace” What are some ways that you could search for a peaceful solution to a conflict with your parent, friend, or someone else?

vs 12 - We all want God to hear and answer our prayers. How we treat others affects God’s willingness to listen.

This is a great time for you to reflect individually on how you treat the people closest to you. Take a few minutes to sit with your thoughts. Do you honor them? Are you honest? Are you quick with paybacks? Do you want what’s best for them, or for you?

Let the Holy Spirit lead you in how you need to respond.
